Okay, so God created us in his image?....this isn't a rant, but?

so one of the first things we learn in Genisis, the first book in the bible is that God created us in his image. Is that limited to looks? Why isn't the way we think, the way we act, not included in that? because the bible says God is perfect? We were created in his image. Why is God supposed to be the high and might above us? What is it that makes us believe if he were in our very shoes, he would not do the same things found unacceptable in the religious world? Because he wasn't temted by satan? because some chick and dude ate a piece of fruit thosands of years ago, we are now forced to live with pain and suffering? why didn't he just cast them out and start anew? if thier disobediance was so repulsive to him, why not start a new. Because he was merciful? He let us all suffer because of their transgression?

adding more details, don't answer yet.....Okay, so God created us in his image?....this isn't a rant, but?
I definately agree with you. Other than Jesus was God's son, supposedly, why was his crucifixtion so important...he wasn't the only one that was crucified and tortured. There is a lot in the Bible that can be scrutinized over and there is always going to be people who believe in different things. The Christians who were taught that they cannot think anything other than God is God and Jesus is the son of God and that everything happens because God wants it to will never change their mind about it. I have asked questions like this and people say I am ignorant for asking these questions...I say they are because they don't question anything or think for themselves. How merciful a God we have that allows molestation and slow painful deaths for innocent children with cancer and AIDS. I am not sure on the answers for a lot of your questions...I know that I believe there is a God...I do not however believe in Him in the way others do...I believe He is there to watch out over his children like a father does and no ones father is perfect...neither is God. Everyone has their faults including God. The Bible was made by man not by God. It is all mans interpretation of what God told them and maybe that is why we are being punished now is because those people as well did not interpret God's word the way He told them to do so. You have great questions! Just believe what you want and what you know inside yourself is right. There will always be someone who will say you are wrong or whatever...but God made us the way we are...made us have doubts and if you...this is going to sound cheesy...listen to yourself you will know it is God who is putting that belief inside of you. I have hardly read the Bible by the way...I just believe what is in my heart and what makes sense to me. I hope all that made sense to you.Okay, so God created us in his image?....this isn't a rant, but?
I had never heard of that...thank you!

Slow down - to much thought into a simple concept - had God cast them out and started anew, the new Eve would have ate the fruit too and every Eve after her - humans are easily tempted and corrupted that is why Jesus died for our sins - don't you think that God knew before Eve what she would do... just as he knows what every child will do in his or her lifetime before they are even conceived.

Have faith that life trials are to toughen you up so that you really will relax and bask in eternal happines in paradise
You are asking some very thoughtful questions. I think that there are many mis-representations in our culture about what the Bible actually says. If you read Genesis, there is no mention of a Fall, no mention of Satan (yes, there is a serpent, but the serpent is just a serpent) and I would add that there are some translation issues surrounding Adam and Eve leaving the Garden. It is later on that we see some of these interpretations coming into the creation story. In Genesis, God says that everything is good (not perfect). What the Hebrew means here is that everything was working ok. Some theologians believe that the creation was good, but not a finished work, and that more was left to be filled in by the human creatures, each of us doing a small bit to fulfill the creation--as such we are co-creators. So we see a process where as humans we learn and try to grow into greater humanity. There are many failures along the way and hopefully we learn from our mistakes and eventually work towards goodness. Along the way there is much suffering in this process, and along with us, God suffers too, feeling our pain. Keep in mind that the Scriptures record only one nation's experience and understanding of God. This is not to say that other peoples in other nations in different periods of time will not have different understandings of God. You ask deep and insightful questions and hopefully in this process of asking and reflecting on what you learn and experience and suffer through, you will develop your own understandings of God and how God is working in the world and in your life.
i have had the same thoughts, i feel we all worship to one god he just had different names, it makes us feel a bit better about dieing, i believe in god and free will, and yes Jesus but if we look at anything hard enough and try to find fault in it we will, lol even chocolate chip cookies, sugar, oil ect, so dont dwell on this and just enjoy the sunrises and sets and lessons life and mother nature gives us
This is long, but so was your question. : )

We were created (on the earth) in God's image, our looks, our hearts, our minds. But (switch to Heaven--to the highest angel in Heaven) Lucifer became dissatisfied with his position and wanted the privileges that God afforded to His only Son and started a war to overthrow the government of God--which up until that time was perfect.

When Lucifer lost the war, his name was changed to satan and he was exiled to the earth. The reason God didn't destroy him immediately was that if God had zapped him, people would've been scared of God. God wants His created beings to worship him from love, not fear, so he is letting satan work out his plan of government long enough so that all the created beings in this world and other worlds can see which plan is best. Remember, God is fair.

God made a home for Adam and Eve on this earth when it was new. He told them they could eat from every tree they saw, except one. It was what God had to do to make it fair. They had to have the option to disobey if they chose to. If they didn't have any way to disobey, that would've been forced obedience.

If they chose to disobey, they would bring death into existance. If they chose to obey, they would live forever. Adam and Eve chose to disobey. Since disobedience is sin, they brought sin into the world. We inherited it, like we inherit brown or blue eyes. We inherited sinful natures and lost the image of God in our hearts and minds.

Because we lost the image of Jesus, we all sin and are all subject to death, so Jesus, the Son of God, came into the earth as a God-human being (combined) to save us. He was born poor so that no one could claim He had an advantaged life. He was tempted just like every other person is tempted. But He didn't sin, even once. He kept a close connection with His Father and consequently lived a perfect life. Only a perfect being could ransom the human race from sin. Jesus did that.

You're right: we don't have a choice to be born perfect. But we have a chance at being saved from eternal death by accepting the sacrifice of Jesus' life, given for our sins.

God tells us in Revelation that He will wipe away all the tears from everyone's eyes. He will come and take the people who love Him, and accept the sacrifice of Jesus, to His perfect Heaven. Then He will make a new earth. The new earth will be perfect and there won't be sin ever again. People will chose not to sin after having seen what the government of satan has done to this earth.

So, yes. We do have to live here, but it won't be forever. Someday our sins will be blotted out [and we will enter the new, perfect earth to live forever], or our names will be blotted out [of God's Book of Life and we will die forever.] It's our choice.
Free Will.

Look, he created man, and he gave him free will. There is a diffrence in knowing whats going to happen, yet giving someone a choice, and knowing whats going to happen, giving someone a choice, and then revoking it and telling them what to do instead. God gave us the first, and the state of affairs today is a place where choice of men have brought us to.

The plan God laid out was simple, and just. And if men, free from sin, under Gods law all followed it, think of what we would have today. So much more than we do. MEN, and MEN alone have brought it into this world, not God.

When he gave Adam and Eve free will, he stepped back and let them make their choices, and for that, sure we pay the consequences, but he also offers us a way to be saved, to be saved with no account of our sins by our own actions. He gave us an out, so to speak.

We live with greed, and pain, and anger, and jealousy, and all those ';bad '; things because men turn from God, sin increases, and is passed on. This is not heaven, it is not what God would have in heaven, and its not what he wants for us on earth. Blame man, not God.

Oh, and it sure sounded like a rant to me.
OH PLESE EMAIL ME I CAN FULLY ANSWER THAT BUT THEIR ISNT ENOUGH SPACE HERE. I BET YOU 100 POINTS YOU CANNOT DISPUTE THIS ONE ONCE I BREAK IT DOWN BC GOD HIMSELF ANSWERED THAT ONE FOR ME ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO!
Without evil there would be NO good... Hell or Heaven
