my boyfriend has the rumor and doesnt like it
if your renewing your contract go on to the bestbuy website, find that phone on there, they offer it for free, print it and bring it to sprint and they will honor it there.
as far as the color, thats a personal choice, but if you subscribe at bestbuy they have it in purple! its a best buy exclusive!
I actually have a question posted about my phone because its SMS text messaging, so i wanted to make sure that wasnt for use with the web only...

Best Ozzfest 2007 ticket rant...?
I asked before if anyone got good seats for this years Ozzfest and only ONE person answered yes.
So now, I want to hear some sob stories, because we all know who got all the good seats, don't we?

Okay, so at exactly 5pm (like the site said) I logged onto Live Nation hopeing to get good tickets. THE SITE WAS BROKEN!!!!! How do you get tickets when the site doean't work right? So I asked my firend and he said it didn't work for him either, but it worked for his other friend, who was out of stat. So us New Yorkers were deprived of good tickets! It's all a conspiricy to give us bad seats. So now I'm all the way back on the back of the lawn and my 5'3'; self would not be able to see a single thing.
The entire hour refreshing the Live Nation Page and the 15 miute wait after that? all a waste, Horrible Seats that shouldn't even count as seats!!!!Best Ozzfest 2007 ticket rant...?

Took me 3 hours to get lawn seats and was on at 5pm for the pnc show in Jersey. Thats with being kicked off twice. There has to be a better way. Pnc lawn seats reall t aren't bad it is general admission there and the 2nd stage is a general admission area too. So get there early to be near the front of the GA area. Everything about myself annoys me. I hate my voice and disdain my personality. I'm cute, as I am constantly told, but frankly can't stand anything about myself. I don't even want to wake up in the morning and face myself, and the crap I put myself and others through. I only found a small comfort in the Internet to make up for my social phobia. There are times I just wish I could end it all.Another I hate myself rant...?
How to feel good about youself
Hi. Remember me? I was the guy at your school dance or birthday party. You know, the one standing up against the wall with his arms folded trying to look like he was having a good time? I was so insecure that when I summoned enough courage to ask someone to dance, I would make sure that she was near a washroom. That way, when she rejected me I could pretend that I was just asking for directions.
If you can relate to this, you probably feel that you are shy or have low self-esteem. However, don't think of it as some terminal disease. There's nothing wrong with being shy. But it's another story if you let your shyness stop you from doing things, from meeting people, from enjoying life.
Was I shy? I don't know. When it came to talking to a pretty girl that I really liked, something inside me would take over and I would either turn into a blabbering idiot (think Jerry Lewis) sabotaging any chance of a relationship, or I would just get quiet, afraid of saying the wrong thing. When I used to say things, it would often be misunderstood or misinterpreted,.or something stupid would come out of my mouth, causing a laugh, a few raised eyebrows or whispers behind my back.. So, I just learned to shut up.. until I became a comedian. Then I had a license to say stupid things.
The following tips may not change your whole life, but I have overcome my own shyness over the years and there are a few ideas that I’d like to share with you to get you started.
1. GET OUT AND TALK TO PEOPLE. Sitting around all day playing with your computer or watching reruns of “Star Trek” are not going to provide you with a lot of opportunities. If you’re invited to go somewhere...GO! Don’t make up excuses to stay home. It’s the little things that cause a chain reaction. You may not think that going to your friends party is important, but often you will meet someone who introduces you to someone else, and then that person will eventually lead you to something that will change the course of your entire life.
2. JOIN A CLUB. Meet some people. Figure out what some of your interests , hobbies or talents are, and then hang out with people who have the same interests.
3. PERFORM IN PUBLIC The biggest turning point in my life was when I joined the school Drama Club. I discovered that I could act and make people laugh. It was a place where I could pretend to be someone else... someone even outrageous, AND in control.. Not only did I get the chance to express myself, but it was easier to relate to people. Because I was seen on stage, it gave people an opportunity or excuse to approach me first. I had always found it difficult to introduce myself or make the first move. It was much easier when they were already familiar with me. It was a starting point for me, an ice-breaker.
I eventually went on to become a professional comedian-actor and acted in hundreds of Murder Mystery dinner trains where I as an actor interacted with the audience.
Now you don’t have to become a pro, but it is important that you learn to deal with the public. Join the school drama club or local community theatre. Take up singing or even try Karaoke. How about a debate club? Anything that requires speaking or performing in front of people will do. It is important to know that you don’t even have to be good at it. Just DO IT! TRY IT! You’ll get better at it as time goes on and your confidence will soar. (By the way, did you know that Robert DeNiro is very shy?)
4. TALK ABOUT THEIR FAVORITE SUBJECT -- THEMSELVES! Sometimes talking to someone new can be very uncomfortable. We’re worried that they won’t find us interesting, that they won’t like us, that we’re not good enough for them. We’re so busy worried about what the other person is thinking about us that we don’t even hear what they’re saying.
Do you want them to like you? Keep them busy talking about themselves. Ask them questions about what they do, about what their interests are. Eventually they’ll start asking you about yourself. Give them honest answers (don’t try to impress them) and then go right back to talking about them again. They’ll go away thinking “What a great person”. Because you’ve shown an unselfish genuine interest in them, how can they find you boring and not like you?
5. SAY IT WITH COMMITMENT. If you have an opinion, an idea, or a belief, express it with 100% commitment. Not everyone is going to agree with you but you do have the right to say what’s on your mind. Politicians can’t make everyone happy but they know this much: If you say something with uncertainty and no one agrees with you they'll all “jump on you” and say you're wrong. However, if you say it with all your heart and commitment and no one agrees with you, they'll just call you controversial -- but they'll respect what you have to say.
6. STOP TRYING TO BE PERFECT. Why is it that so many people think that being perfect is the way to go? Often, people who are shy or have low self-esteem feel the need to be perfect just to break even with the rest of the world. They think they have to be twice as good to be any good. You don't! You just have to be yourself.
7. BE YOUR OWN BEST FRIEND Do you put yourself down? Do you call yourself names in your own head? Stop it immediately! Give yourself a break. If you don't like yourself, how do you expect anyone else to?
Remember, overcoming shyness is a gradual process and often not so easy, If you want to learn how to swim, you know that you're going to have to get a little wet! But once you're in the water, you'll never want to come out.Another I hate myself rant...?

Instead of looking for things that you hate about yourself, try and think positive, look for things that you like about yourself, dont wake up thinking, eww im ugly, or i hate myself, try and say, im beautiful, say it over, and over, because you are and deep down you know it, and everyone around you knows it too.
what age are you? if you are quite young, you wont feel like this forever, trust me. as you get older, you learn to love, or at least like the little things about yourself. dont end it all. life can be good, and bad, but your here for a good time, let it happen, dont waste it. i no its easier said than done but try and set little goals for urself. everyone is different and thats one of the most fantastic things about being human, the diversity. dont be afraid to be yourself because people will see that and accept that.
Are you 15-18? ?Because I felt the same at your age, it's normal, people told me the same things, still I hated myself (I still do to tell the truth), but I understood that it's impossible to be happy, because we always want more and more, and we're never happy with our results. I hope you will learn to accept your flaws, because no one's perfect.

Sprint Katana, Rumor, or Rant?

We were told the Rant is basically the Rumor on crack, but we got the Rumor because there is currently an online deal through the spring website where we got it for free (we had a $150 upgrade given to us).
Also, the Rant and Rumor have QWERTY keyboard. We just got our Rumors last night and they're fine for us. We don't text very often.

The Rant is like the LG Rumor. Sideway slide with keyboard, bigger buttons for text compared to the Palm Centro, not touchscreen.
Palm Centro has no sliding, touchscreen, can put in music, videos, smaller buttons but easy to adapt.

A Carlos Zambrano rant......?
This guy should be banned from the game. He has no heart for the game and likes to throw hissy fits when he is wrong. He is a big baby and should go crawl back to his house with no dignity. Electric hand dryers!!! They never work correctly, some are too cold, others too hot (nearly burned my fingers by heating up my rings the other day), I always end up getting some toilet paper to dry my hands correctly after using one -like everyone else,which leaves a mess in the bathroom. Bring back towels, they worked for years with no problems.

Yes I was at my local town center this morning and popped into Woolworths. Saw a dvd on display at a reasonable price and decided to buy it. Took the case to the counter and waited an age for the assistant to find the dvd only to be told there were none in stock. What annoys me is why the hell don't they take the display cases down if they don't have the product in stock and stop wasting my ******* time .
Point gaming causes a lot of bad feeling on this site. It is where people look for questions in sections that have no/few answers, they wait until a question is nearly closed and answer the question with anything, usually nonsense, so raise their Best Answer Score. People don't object if there is only one response if it is well researched or well answered, it is the nonsense answers that are causing bad feeling. Point gaming like this is not outside of Y/A rules, but considered bad form.

Electric hand dryers!!! They never work correctly, some are too cold, others too hot (nearly burned my fingers by heating up my rings the other day), I always end up getting some toilet paper to dry my hands correctly after using one -like everyone else,which leaves a mess in the bathroom. Bring back towels, they worked for years with no problems.

I used to be when I was a young child and thought that Christianity was the only religion ever. Then I realized it wasn't, so I studied as many as I could. Than I realized if so many people had so many different opinions, none of those opinions could be truth, because if one of them was, than everyone would accept it. Than I sat, thought about religion, and god, and how everyone is born equally, and deducted that my intrinsic knowledge of god must be equal to that of everyone else's, and it was little more than something out there must exist, and nothing more, that is definable in words. So I realized to accept my ignorance, and live my life without my focus being on how I am alive. Now I'm a nontheist and much more happy and secure in myself than I ever was when I followed a religion.

13 answer so far as I write this. Isn't it amazing how difficult people seem to find it to justify their views? Some Christians believe you have to believe certain things or you'll go to hell! But beyond that they aren't able to explain--or even speak intelligently--about why those things are important to them. Maybe they never really thought about it for themselves! 8^O
I am not Christian myself, I was raised Jewish but I see that as more of a cultural heritage than a system of beliefs. But I can understand Christianity because I live in a Christian nation and Christianity is one of the bases of all of western culture.
Abrahamic religions are all based on Judaism, and Judaism is not so much a system of obligatory beliefs as it is a system of moral/ethical principles. It is based on the belief in a supreme being, but I think it's natural for people to want to believe in a supreme being, it is part of human nature. Recognizing this makes me more tolerant of other religions. I believe everyone should have the right to believe whatever seems reasonable to himself.
Christianity is very diverse, I mean there are many different kinds of Christians to believe different things. But one of the most common and, I think, most unfortunate beliefs is that religion is all about -salvation-, in other words that this life is only an opportunity to prepare for the next one. And, also unfortunate (IMHO) is the idea that there are certain obligatory doctrines, things you -must- believe to be saved. I find a lot of people believe that these doctrines are obligatory and so they subscribe to them, they say they believe them and they even convince themselves that they believe them, often without really understanding them or being able to explain them beyond quoting a few pat 'slogans'.
The problem (again, this is all still my own observation) is that doctrines trump morals and ethics. So long as you believe these things, it doesn't matter how you behave. And it doesn't matter if you miss opportunities to enjoy -this- life, to be of use to others, to grow and learn, and just to have FUN, because your eyes are on the NEXT life, which is completely vague and indefinable.
And, from my own admittedly innocent reading of the New Testament, this is not at all what Jesus taught. Jesus was JEWISH! He believed in moral/ethical behavior, and his biggest lesson was that we should be useful to one another, help one another, look out for one another. Love they neighbor, love thy enemy, love EVERYONE!
I have my own ideas about how this message was twisted and corrupted over the years, having more to do with politics than with faith. I could write 10,000 words about it and win your soul. 8^) But I will just say that this is obvious to anyone who reads and listens and thinks about it. Anyone professing to be a believing Christian, I think it is incumbent upon him, his religious duty, to read the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament for himself and compare/contrast with the Jesus he's been taught about.
And (clever segue here to my concluding point). And so should YOU. You should examine your beliefs. You should read various interpretations and commentaries, and pick up pieces here and there that sound reasonable to you. And you should hold onto your soul, you might need it later. 8^)

Hello. My name is Mark, and I’m an Atheist because there's no reliable evidence for any god, or even for Jesus.
History and Development of Science and Scientific Naturalism
Let’s start with a quick experiment. You can grab three coins and actually do the experiment, or just do a thought experiment.
Drop one coin and watch it fall. Do this again. Hold out the third coin.
If you were to do this again, what do you think would happen? If you could get ten good Christians to pray that this next coin wouldn’t fall, would it still fall? How about one thousand faithful Muslims? How about one billion people of any faith? I think that it would still fall. Drop the third coin.
Our understanding of the world around us, and our abilities to predict what will happen are based on naturalism — the basis of science. Naturalism is how all people live their lives most of the time.
OK, let’s just do a thought experiment. If you were to take two coins and glue them together, then drop them at the same time as you drop a single coin, would they fall twice as fast as the single coin? Aristotle thought so 2300 years ago, and for over 1900 years, his ideas were what was taught about this and many other subjects. Some of the other ancient Greeks had many ideas that are now a basis for modern science, engineering, math, philosophy, and democracy. Unfortunately for humankind, these ideas were largely forgotten for almost two thousand years while religion took control and Aristotle was revered as the source of supposedly scientific knowledge.
Galileo and Empirical Science
Around 1600, Galileo had a new idea for his culture. He decided to do something that now seems like common sense — to actually test the idea of what we now call gravity. He reasoned that two weights held together would fall at the same rate as one weight. Then he did experiments to test the idea — and, not surprisingly to us, it was true. This was the start of modern empirical science, and our collective understanding of the universe hasn’t been the same since.
“Empirical” is a word that I'll be using a lot. It refers to ideas that are capable of being verified or disproved by observation or experiment. Empirical evidence is not simply one type of evidence, but rather it is the only evidence that we can rely on, because it is reproducible. Empirical evidence is the basis for physical science.
Galileo also took the new invention of the telescope, refined it, and used it to look at the night sky. He was astounded. On the moon he could see mountains and valleys. It wasn’t just some strange heavenly object; it was probably made out of the same stuff as Earth. In 1609 Galileo looked at Jupiter and discovered that he could see four moons. If moons orbited Jupiter then not everything orbited the Earth, as the Catholic Church taught. Astronomy made more sense if the theories of Copernicus were true, and the Earth and planets orbited the sun. This was what Galileo taught, and in 1616 he was subject to the Inquisition. They banned him from teaching this idea, which was opposed to the true faith and contrary to Holy Scripture. However, Galileo later got permission from the pope (a friend of his) to write a book, as long as the Church's ideas and Galileo's were given equal weight. Galileo's book did not treat the two ideas equally, of course, so he was called to Rome in 1632 by the Catholic Church’s Inquisition, and told to recant his heretical ideas.
This was no “simple request” by the Church. The Inquisition had already executed Galileo’s friend Giordano Bruno. Have you heard of him? In 1600, the Christian authorities in Rome took him out of the dungeon he had been in for eight years, drove a nail thru his tongue, tied him to a metal post, put wood and some of his books under his feet, and burned him to death. Bruno’s crime was writing ideas that the Catholic leaders didn’t like — the Earth revolves around the sun, the sun is a star, there might be other worlds with other intelligent beings on them, Jesus didn’t possess god-like power, and souls can’t go to heaven. For these heretical ideas, the Catholic Church punished this brilliant man with an agonizingly slow death.
Bruno was not the only man executed by the Christians for heretical ideas. Another was Italian freethinker Lucilio Vanini, who suggested that humans evolved from apes. In 1618 he was tried in France and found guilty of Atheism and witchcraft. He had his tongue cut out, he was hanged, and his body was burned — as was customary with all heretics. Six years later the French Parlement even decreed that criticism of Aristotle was punishable by death, and many heretics continued to be burned.
Galileo no doubt knew what he was up against. For the crime of heresy the Inquisition could put him in a dungeon, torture or even execute him. So, after a long trial, this proud 70 year-old man obediently got on his knees and dutifully recanted. But even after recanting, he was still sentenced to house arrest for the rest of his life. The Catholic Church officially condemned heliocentrism 31 years later, when Pope Alexander VII banned all books that affirmed the Earth’s motion. However, even as powerful as the Church was, they could not hold back the tidal wave of scientific discovery. The Church eventually lost its battle over our view of the universe, but it only took them over three hundred years to admit it. In 1992, after 12 years of deliberations, they grudgingly noted that Galileo had been right in supporting the Copernican theories. Even then, they ascribed his genius to God, “who, stirring in the depths of his spirit, stimulated him, anticipating and assisting his intuitions.” But no such reprieve has been given for Bruno. His writings are still on the Vatican’s list of forbidden texts, and Pope John Paul II refused to even apologize for the Catholic Church's torture killing of Bruno.
Galileo and others started something big — empirical science. Thru science, we have come to a good understanding of the workings of the world and universe around us. The weather, lightning, thunder, the planets and stars, disease, and life itself all function based on fairly well understood principles. God doesn’t control them; the physical properties of matter and energy do. This principle is at the center of naturalism — the idea that only matter and energy exist, and they have properties that are repeatable, understandable, and quantifiable within the limits of quantum mechanics. We take this idea so for granted that we typically don’t realize that it is based on several articles of faith. This faith, however, is quite different from religious faith. This faith is based on past experience and results. It is the faith that:
There is an external world that exists independently of our minds.
There are quantifiable natural laws that describe how things happen in this world, and we can attempt to understand them.
These natural laws won’t change when we’re not looking; the universe isn’t totally chaotic.
So far, this faith has been well founded, as shown by the amazing accomplishments of modern science, engineering and medicine.
God of the Gaps, or Argument From Ignorance
Until just a couple of hundred years ago, most people thought that a god or gods controlled everything. Why did the wind blow? Why was there lightning and thunder? Why did the sun, moon, and stars apparently go around the Earth? Why did someone get sick and die? Why did anything happen? Well, obviously, God did it. If a person doesn’t know how something works or why something happened, they can say, “God did it.” This is known as the “god of the gaps,” or the “argument from ignorance,” and it is at the heart of the conflict between science and religion. Science looks for natural causes, while religion looks for supernatural causes. Science is steadily winning, because as we understand more and more about the universe, the gap where God might function grows smaller and smaller. Every time we learn more, God has less room to operate. When we learned what caused the sun to apparently move across the sky, there was no need for the Greek god Helios and his chariot. When we understood what caused lightning, there was no need for the Greek god Zeus, the Roman god Jupiter, or the Norse god Thor.
In fact, the understanding of lightning was one of the first areas of battle between science and Christianity. When Ben Franklin discovered that lightning was just a big electric spark, he invented the lightning rod. It was enormously successful at preventing buildings from being struck by lightning. However, this caused a bit of a conundrum for the church leaders; should they trust in their god to prevent lightning strikes on their churches, or should they use these new lightning rods? Up until then, lightning hit churches much more frequently than other, more “deserving” buildings — such as taverns or houses of ill repute. “Why was that?” they might have wondered. Could it be that churches had spires and were taller, or was it SATAN and his WITCHES? …… Actually, that is what they often believed, and many a supposed witch was executed for having caused the destruction of a church. When they started putting lightning rods on churches, witch killings stopped soon thereafter. However, the obvious fact is that they were putting their trust in science and lightning rods, not religion and prayer.

13 answer so far as I write this. Isn't it amazing how difficult people seem to find it to justify their views? Some Christians believe you have to believe certain things or you'll go to hell! But beyond that they aren't able to explain--or even speak intelligently--about why those things are important to them. Maybe they never really thought about it for themselves! 8^O
I am not Christian myself, I was raised Jewish but I see that as more of a cultural heritage than a system of beliefs. But I can understand Christianity because I live in a Christian nation and Christianity is one of the bases of all of western culture.
Abrahamic religions are all based on Judaism, and Judaism is not so much a system of obligatory beliefs as it is a system of moral/ethical principles. It is based on the belief in a supreme being, but I think it's natural for people to want to believe in a supreme being, it is part of human nature. Recognizing this makes me more tolerant of other religions. I believe everyone should have the right to believe whatever seems reasonable to himself.
Christianity is very diverse, I mean there are many different kinds of Christians to believe different things. But one of the most common and, I think, most unfortunate beliefs is that religion is all about -salvation-, in other words that this life is only an opportunity to prepare for the next one. And, also unfortunate (IMHO) is the idea that there are certain obligatory doctrines, things you -must- believe to be saved. I find a lot of people believe that these doctrines are obligatory and so they subscribe to them, they say they believe them and they even convince themselves that they believe them, often without really understanding them or being able to explain them beyond quoting a few pat 'slogans'.
The problem (again, this is all still my own observation) is that doctrines trump morals and ethics. So long as you believe these things, it doesn't matter how you behave. And it doesn't matter if you miss opportunities to enjoy -this- life, to be of use to others, to grow and learn, and just to have FUN, because your eyes are on the NEXT life, which is completely vague and indefinable.
And, from my own admittedly innocent reading of the New Testament, this is not at all what Jesus taught. Jesus was JEWISH! He believed in moral/ethical behavior, and his biggest lesson was that we should be useful to one another, help one another, look out for one another. Love they neighbor, love thy enemy, love EVERYONE!
I have my own ideas about how this message was twisted and corrupted over the years, having more to do with politics than with faith. I could write 10,000 words about it and win your soul. 8^) But I will just say that this is obvious to anyone who reads and listens and thinks about it. Anyone professing to be a believing Christian, I think it is incumbent upon him, his religious duty, to read the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament for himself and compare/contrast with the Jesus he's been taught about.
And (clever segue here to my concluding point). And so should YOU. You should examine your beliefs. You should read various interpretations and commentaries, and pick up pieces here and there that sound reasonable to you. And you should hold onto your soul, you might need it later. 8^)

Hello. My name is Mark, and I’m an Atheist because there's no reliable evidence for any god, or even for Jesus.
History and Development of Science and Scientific Naturalism
Let’s start with a quick experiment. You can grab three coins and actually do the experiment, or just do a thought experiment.
Drop one coin and watch it fall. Do this again. Hold out the third coin.
If you were to do this again, what do you think would happen? If you could get ten good Christians to pray that this next coin wouldn’t fall, would it still fall? How about one thousand faithful Muslims? How about one billion people of any faith? I think that it would still fall. Drop the third coin.
Our understanding of the world around us, and our abilities to predict what will happen are based on naturalism — the basis of science. Naturalism is how all people live their lives most of the time.
OK, let’s just do a thought experiment. If you were to take two coins and glue them together, then drop them at the same time as you drop a single coin, would they fall twice as fast as the single coin? Aristotle thought so 2300 years ago, and for over 1900 years, his ideas were what was taught about this and many other subjects. Some of the other ancient Greeks had many ideas that are now a basis for modern science, engineering, math, philosophy, and democracy. Unfortunately for humankind, these ideas were largely forgotten for almost two thousand years while religion took control and Aristotle was revered as the source of supposedly scientific knowledge.
Galileo and Empirical Science
Around 1600, Galileo had a new idea for his culture. He decided to do something that now seems like common sense — to actually test the idea of what we now call gravity. He reasoned that two weights held together would fall at the same rate as one weight. Then he did experiments to test the idea — and, not surprisingly to us, it was true. This was the start of modern empirical science, and our collective understanding of the universe hasn’t been the same since.
“Empirical” is a word that I'll be using a lot. It refers to ideas that are capable of being verified or disproved by observation or experiment. Empirical evidence is not simply one type of evidence, but rather it is the only evidence that we can rely on, because it is reproducible. Empirical evidence is the basis for physical science.
Galileo also took the new invention of the telescope, refined it, and used it to look at the night sky. He was astounded. On the moon he could see mountains and valleys. It wasn’t just some strange heavenly object; it was probably made out of the same stuff as Earth. In 1609 Galileo looked at Jupiter and discovered that he could see four moons. If moons orbited Jupiter then not everything orbited the Earth, as the Catholic Church taught. Astronomy made more sense if the theories of Copernicus were true, and the Earth and planets orbited the sun. This was what Galileo taught, and in 1616 he was subject to the Inquisition. They banned him from teaching this idea, which was opposed to the true faith and contrary to Holy Scripture. However, Galileo later got permission from the pope (a friend of his) to write a book, as long as the Church's ideas and Galileo's were given equal weight. Galileo's book did not treat the two ideas equally, of course, so he was called to Rome in 1632 by the Catholic Church’s Inquisition, and told to recant his heretical ideas.
This was no “simple request” by the Church. The Inquisition had already executed Galileo’s friend Giordano Bruno. Have you heard of him? In 1600, the Christian authorities in Rome took him out of the dungeon he had been in for eight years, drove a nail thru his tongue, tied him to a metal post, put wood and some of his books under his feet, and burned him to death. Bruno’s crime was writing ideas that the Catholic leaders didn’t like — the Earth revolves around the sun, the sun is a star, there might be other worlds with other intelligent beings on them, Jesus didn’t possess god-like power, and souls can’t go to heaven. For these heretical ideas, the Catholic Church punished this brilliant man with an agonizingly slow death.
Bruno was not the only man executed by the Christians for heretical ideas. Another was Italian freethinker Lucilio Vanini, who suggested that humans evolved from apes. In 1618 he was tried in France and found guilty of Atheism and witchcraft. He had his tongue cut out, he was hanged, and his body was burned — as was customary with all heretics. Six years later the French Parlement even decreed that criticism of Aristotle was punishable by death, and many heretics continued to be burned.
Galileo no doubt knew what he was up against. For the crime of heresy the Inquisition could put him in a dungeon, torture or even execute him. So, after a long trial, this proud 70 year-old man obediently got on his knees and dutifully recanted. But even after recanting, he was still sentenced to house arrest for the rest of his life. The Catholic Church officially condemned heliocentrism 31 years later, when Pope Alexander VII banned all books that affirmed the Earth’s motion. However, even as powerful as the Church was, they could not hold back the tidal wave of scientific discovery. The Church eventually lost its battle over our view of the universe, but it only took them over three hundred years to admit it. In 1992, after 12 years of deliberations, they grudgingly noted that Galileo had been right in supporting the Copernican theories. Even then, they ascribed his genius to God, “who, stirring in the depths of his spirit, stimulated him, anticipating and assisting his intuitions.” But no such reprieve has been given for Bruno. His writings are still on the Vatican’s list of forbidden texts, and Pope John Paul II refused to even apologize for the Catholic Church's torture killing of Bruno.
Galileo and others started something big — empirical science. Thru science, we have come to a good understanding of the workings of the world and universe around us. The weather, lightning, thunder, the planets and stars, disease, and life itself all function based on fairly well understood principles. God doesn’t control them; the physical properties of matter and energy do. This principle is at the center of naturalism — the idea that only matter and energy exist, and they have properties that are repeatable, understandable, and quantifiable within the limits of quantum mechanics. We take this idea so for granted that we typically don’t realize that it is based on several articles of faith. This faith, however, is quite different from religious faith. This faith is based on past experience and results. It is the faith that:
There is an external world that exists independently of our minds.
There are quantifiable natural laws that describe how things happen in this world, and we can attempt to understand them.
These natural laws won’t change when we’re not looking; the universe isn’t totally chaotic.
So far, this faith has been well founded, as shown by the amazing accomplishments of modern science, engineering and medicine.
God of the Gaps, or Argument From Ignorance
Until just a couple of hundred years ago, most people thought that a god or gods controlled everything. Why did the wind blow? Why was there lightning and thunder? Why did the sun, moon, and stars apparently go around the Earth? Why did someone get sick and die? Why did anything happen? Well, obviously, God did it. If a person doesn’t know how something works or why something happened, they can say, “God did it.” This is known as the “god of the gaps,” or the “argument from ignorance,” and it is at the heart of the conflict between science and religion. Science looks for natural causes, while religion looks for supernatural causes. Science is steadily winning, because as we understand more and more about the universe, the gap where God might function grows smaller and smaller. Every time we learn more, God has less room to operate. When we learned what caused the sun to apparently move across the sky, there was no need for the Greek god Helios and his chariot. When we understood what caused lightning, there was no need for the Greek god Zeus, the Roman god Jupiter, or the Norse god Thor.
In fact, the understanding of lightning was one of the first areas of battle between science and Christianity. When Ben Franklin discovered that lightning was just a big electric spark, he invented the lightning rod. It was enormously successful at preventing buildings from being struck by lightning. However, this caused a bit of a conundrum for the church leaders; should they trust in their god to prevent lightning strikes on their churches, or should they use these new lightning rods? Up until then, lightning hit churches much more frequently than other, more “deserving” buildings — such as taverns or houses of ill repute. “Why was that?” they might have wondered. Could it be that churches had spires and were taller, or was it SATAN and his WITCHES? …… Actually, that is what they often believed, and many a supposed witch was executed for having caused the destruction of a church. When they started putting lightning rods on churches, witch killings stopped soon thereafter. However, the obvious fact is that they were putting their trust in science and lightning rods, not religion and prayer.

Hamil was indeed screwed, but Rampage won his fight. It was close but he won.
Hamil/Bisping wasn't even close. The thing that pissed me off the most about it was Bisping talking **** like he actually won after the fight.

I have to say, that I think she had a confrontation like that coming for a while. It was only a matter of time before people stopped pussyfooting around her and actually bit the bullet to find out what was going on.

II had the rant, and did lots of research so I know what i'm talking about
My mom has the lotus and I also did alot of research so I know what i'm talking about.
Rant: full keyboard yes, its nice. the design isnt that good though. 3 problems though
1. the keys are stiff. they were too stiff for me
2. it is pretty chunky. don't listen to people who tell you its smaller than the lotus.
3. It is GLITCHY! I've went through 2 rants in the past month after upgrading. I saw on other reviews how people would complain about it, but i got it anyway. Me and my sister got the same phone and we both had to take them back because they were glitchy. I now have the LG Rumor 2. It doesn't have as many features, but the look and feel of the keys, keyboard and entire phone is better (to me), and It hasn't glitched up yet.(had it for 3 weeks)
LG Lotus: awesome phone. the keyboard looks small but works very well there is nothing bad about the phone. it received better reviews than the rant and rumor 2
if you only need to call, email and text i would say get the rumor. If you need more features such as internet browsing or downloading music right from sprint (Rumor has a music player but you cant download directly from sprint.), you should get the lotus

Me and my sister got the same phone and we both had to take them back because they were glitchy. I now have the LG Rumor 2. It doesn't have as many features, but the look and feel of the keys, keyboard and entire phone is better (to me), and It hasn't glitched up yet.(had it for 3 weeks)
LG Lotus: awesome phone. the keyboard looks small but works very well there is nothing bad about the phone. it received better reviews than the rant and rumor 2
if you only need to call, email and text i would say get the rumor. If you need more features such as internet browsing or downloading music right from sprint (Rumor has a music player but you cant download directly from sprint.), you should get the lotus

double note: when people review phones, they use them for about a month or so, so it really doesn't determine how long it will last.

There is a commercial on TV begging me for money to help alleviate the suffering of third world leprosy victims who cannot afford the $27/month for the one year drug treatment. It occurred to me that there are pharmaceutical companies who have gone out of their way to produce drugs specifically for people who cannot afford them. Since leprosy is rare indeed in industrialized countries, the drug manufacturers are counting on us as their target consumers to buy the treatments for the poor of the world. These same companies spend billions on R%26amp;D to ensure that white western men have full heads of hair and erections to match. We white western men are then shamed into giving to worthwhile causes such as leprosy treatment. My question is why can鈥檛 the pharmaceuticals forget about all the useless designer drugs and focus on actual ailments? We have drugs to sleep, then wake up, to fight depression which may or not exist, to prevent baldness, to get hard, to skip menstruation, to calm a hyped up kid who鈥檚 parents turn around and give them ice-cappuccino鈥檚, and every ailment real and imagined under the sun. Why? I know majority of them are here to work and live but the one we are deporting are criminals in gangs and have committed a felony. I just want the law breakers to leave and not come back.
As far as legals, that's a different story, but these illegals make me sick. They're driving our streets with no license, thus no insurance. When they drink %26amp; drive and kill someone, the only punishment they get is getting deported back to Mexico. They live off of our welfare system, don't pay taxes, and have a stinking slew of kids . It's not them taking the jobs that bothers most people, it's the things i just named. Basically, they're taking the jobs nobody else wants here.
I used to volunteer for the county during Christmas time - Christmas Coalition - to give underpriveleged kids Christmas presents - not anymore - its' all Mexicans. They come in and take up all the donations because they 'll have 15 kids - then our local kids don't get anything. It's gross.
These people are already working tax free, getting foodstamps, welfare checks, living for free in HUD houses and then they come in and take our kids gifts.
They've made it impossible to rent a house in our neighboring towns because the rent has gone so high, a normal family cant afford it. They'll rent a 2 bedroom , piece of crap house to 5 Mexican families and charge them $1000 a month. And I have lots of realtor friends who say they have taken the illegals to look at rental property and they actually stand there and count out how many matresses they think they can fit on the floor - and that's not a rumor! its the truth!
They've brought in alot of body lice and hair lice to our kids at school. They have brought staph over here. They're just not clean people. We had a little Mexican girl that had long thick hair full of lice - she gave it to everyone in her class. Can you get in trouble for making a facebook page ranting about someone?
Yeah I just was wondering if i could get in trouble for making a facebook page about someone i dislike its not like im going to wish them death or anything i just want to rant and let others rant about this person.Can you get in trouble for making a facebook page ranting about someone?
probably if the person saw it :) if someone did that about me, i would get them. just think about it first :)

Why is it that celebrities can pick and choose kids from other countries to adopt, when there are American children with the same problem? What makes other countries' kids so special? Do these celebs hate the country that has made them so famous that much? It's great that they are adopting kids-I only want to know why aren't they adopting America's children. Is it not ';hot'; right now? If I had the ability and money to adopt I would and I assure you it would be an Amercian child. Lash out at me now if you'd like. The designation of American versus non-American is arbitrary, as both groups are equal in their need for adoption. Irrelevant nationalism disguised as disingenuous outrage is always so easy to spot.
i dont think thats fair. there are kids all over and parents that cant have kids should be able to adopt from whereever they want. now, i'm sure celebs are doing to to look good, but i know many parents who've addopted out side of the US.
my mom's friend addopted two children from sumantra, one with a disability too (sisters) and had one child from russia i believe that she had gotten before that (this is going back about 12-15 years now.)
and one of my customers at work have addopted 2 kids from russia (about 5 years apart)
all of the kids need help. i might be wrong about this, but i feel that out of ALL the kids that need to be adopted, the american ones probably have the most already, just think of these third world countries where they cant even get clean water, shouldnt people save them too???
I know what you mean and understand, but you gotta remember if they adopt a child from America, the biological parents can say ';hey I want to be a part of my child's life now'; and that's not cool. It's just a matter of fact. They can't afford to put a child through that kind of negative situation much less themselves.
